August 2015 Update

Dear Friends of Rio del Cambio
The 5th Annual Rio del Cambio Fundraising Festival was amazing! The weather was again perfect, the food by Chef Chris (Redline Brewhouse) was awesome, and the entertainment left us all smiling and dancing until the sun went down. Rob Tomkinson then Randolph and the Rivieras warmed up the crowd with golden oldies and familiar favourites. My Son the Hurricane, a…

April 2015 Update

Dear Friends of Rio del Cambio

Our trip to Citalapa in February was full! Everyday of the two weeks were packed with meetings, decisions, activities, travel and of course, being with and experiencing life in the back corners of Nicaragua. The weather was hot and dry – stifling some days, with just a hint of cloud cover to keep the temperature under 35 degrees.

The trip to the beach was onc…

October 2014 Update

Dear Friends of Rio del Cambio

It has once again been a month of great emotion. I was beginning to feel a sense of calm after writing the September newsletter since life in Citalapa seemed to have begun to find a measure of normal and familiar after 4 months of devastating drought and heat. The rains had finally begun, the farmers were doing what they love with real hope, and the children…

September 2014 Update

Dear Friends of Rio del Cambio

I apologize for the silence over the past month. The drought in Nicaragua has wrecked havoc for Elias, our Project Manager and the people of Citalapa.

First, in a effort to lead, support and calm the villagers, Elias has been staying in the village for extended periods of time. This cut down on travel expense as he knew the Rio del Cambio budget was being…

May 2014 Update

Dear Friends of Rio del Cambio

There is so much to say but I am mindful of length…  Our trip to Citalapa in April was exciting, productive, informative, educational, tiring and very HOT!  We arrived to find the new Education Centre almost complete.  With only 8 days to accomplish a lot, we rolled up our sleeves and joined the villagers of all ages to put the finishing touches on t…
